This comedy drama based on a true story, follows the successful attempt by a black detective officer to join a local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s.
Seeking to prove himself to his superiors, Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) tasks himself with a mission of infiltrating the KKK. In order to succeed, he forms friendship with a white officer Zimmerman (Adam Driver) to help him infiltrate and expose members of the notoriously violent and racist Ku Klux Klan.
Stallworth has to deal with a hostile environment at his police station as he seeks to undermine the planned activities of the Ku Klux Klan.
Strong on the thought-provoking issue of race relations that continues to plague America, the film provides an eye-opener to the ills of society. Critics have heaped praise on the performances of Driver and Washington.
Directed by Spike Lee, the film casts Washington (Ballers), Driver (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Logan Lucky), Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist), Christopher John (Interstellar, Predators, Spider-Man 3) and Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
BlackkKlansman premieres this Friday at Century Cinemax, Acacia mall.
