74 year-old Museveni accepts proposal to run for sixth term

Museveni says he's still able to rule Uganda

President Yoweri Museveni has 'happily agreed' to contest for sixth term in the 2021 elections, saying he and his NRM party still have an uncompleted mission of taking Uganda to a higher level.

Yesterday, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs endorsed Museveni's 2021 sole candidature. Addressing the NRM caucus retreat National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi today, Museveni agreed to the sole candidature endorsement which was first proposed by party’s top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) last month. Museveni reportedly said he is still able to serve the country.

“I thank my colleagues in CEC and the NRM parliamentary caucus for forwarding my name to continue adding more steps on our mission-oriented journey. Am therefore very pleased with your confidence showed in me and since am still very able and I happen to be among the most conversant with this journey, I happily agree to serve,” said Museveni.

According to the NRM senior information manager, Rogers Mulindwa, Museveni's agreement to run in the 2021 presidential race attracted cheers from the legislators. Mulindwa says that Museveni noted that he, together with the NRM party membership coupled with the assured economic recovery, were destined to deliver the country to a higher level, adding that there are very many good steps already implemented in a very positive direction.

The president reportedly said that he was convinced that together with the party leadership, they could make NRM invulnerable, not vulnerable to any attack and deal with the issues of the youth and job creation among others.

Museveni’s acceptance means that he will contest for a sixth term in office come 2021 when he will be 76 years old having started leading Uganda in 1986.

The motion to have Museveni continue leading the country was on Sunday moved by  the Eastern Region PWDs representative, Hellen Asamo saying that Uganda needed Museveni now more than ever before for his firm guidance and mentorship of the party ,embership.

A similar motion was in the run up to the 2016 presidential elections, moved by then Northern Youth MP, Evelyn Anite still at Kyankwanzi, and Museveni was also then endorsed as the sole presidential candidate for NRM.

The move locked out his rivals in the party who included former prime minister and then party’s secretary general Amama Mbabazi who had expressed interest in contesting against Museveni.  Mbabazi was subsequently forced out the party and run for Presidency under the Go Forward Movement. He lost the contest to Museveni garnering less than 1 per cent.

mandela, understood, but,

Museveni has conquered Uganda & unless he is thrown out in UNITY & Ugandans get FREE, he is going no where!

As for 'youth unemployment, no drugs in hospitals..., the poorer jobless youths are, the more sick Ugandans are = the more weak/powerless they are & Museveni just goes on!

Is there any reason non nrm should vote, especially as there is no common opposition leader to UNITE the rest of the country against nrm/Museveni?

Why should divided Ugandans go to vote when it's Museveni organising/controlling everything & will never lose?

WADADA roger, agreed, but,

Those in nrm are Ugandans, so non will ever replace be allowed to measure up to Museveni!

See how Dr Besigye, military man Kayihura ended!

Uganda is Museveni & he is Uganda & when he will be no more, Uganda will be no more too as there is no replacement, no plans for after him!

Opposition leaders fight themselves & remain divisive, thus divide Ugandans further - non sees that as long as tribal leaders are in posts, there is no way any will replace Museveni!

Continued divisive opposition parties/leaders bolster Museveni further, while Ugandans are more & more lost, but Museveni assured of lifetime rule!

Edward mukyanda, thanks.

God helps those who help themselves, reason we pray for forgivenes/help by doing the right things/being good, right?

Ugandans are not only the danger to their existence, but are criminals helping Museveni destroy them, their country, their children!

Ugandans are quilty of non assistance to themselves so no outsider can help them!

Worse, the tribalistic system shuts the outside world out; non dare says a word against Museveni as the tribalists keeping him in power are Ugandans themselves!

WADADA roger, understood, but,

With whose money did Museveni fund the proposal?

Even in the bush, Museveni robbed Uganda banks as & when he needed money, right?

If it's tax money that belongs to Ugandans to whom the country also belongs, then why is Museveni allowed to run again when all Ugandans have to do is UNITE & block him?

Ugandans are slaves of a migrant they gave shelter to & he tribalistically rules them; does this make sense?

Which tribal land will Museveni use as base this time, if thrown out in UNITY?

Why talk about Museveni rerunning after the 35 years, when all that is needed is tribal leaders standing down & UNITY to block & force him out?

WADADA roger, please,

Don't give up because Uganda, formed by tribal lands belongs to Ugandans & Museveni is not part of it!

Just tribal leaders standing down & UNITY of ALL to block Museveni is needed, then Ugandans will go for the kind of governance they want!

Why is being slaves to migrant Museveni a better choice for Ugandans?

Dyleen, understood, yet,

If he gets a cardiac arrest and succumbs before 2021, Uganda will be in more chaos as the tribalistic system will have no chief & Ugandans have no common opposition/national leader!

Unless tribal leaders declare independent tribal states & start organising, managing...their land riches & serve their people!

As Museveni goes on, blames are on him, but when he will be no more, even nrm that has just him as leader, will be in chaos!

Do Ugandans prefer chaos after Museveni, or preparing themselves NOW?

Museveni dying of cardiac arrest soon or at +90, Ugandans will have to become actors & no longer commentators/spectators, unless they will die with him!

Like their Chairman, Mr. M7; the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) members are in there fighting only for themselves and family.

In other words, they are Mr. M7's mercenaries. It is the unfinished business of fighting for himself, family and selfish satanic belief.

Where were these MPs and/or NRM members when on the 26th January 2017, Mr. M7 said that he is nobody's servant or employee; that he is |State House fighting only for himself, family and vane belief?

Except lower level, how can such a person have unfinished business of transforming Uganda sic, taking Uganda to a higher level. What a pile of BS!

In other words, these NRM MPs/members are Evil per excellence because, every 5-year (before every election season); they go to Kyankwanzi to dance and rollover on the mass graves of the thousands of the people of Luweero, Greater Northern Uganda and Kasese.

Quoting Wainainchi:
... Observer has purposely emphasized your age of 74 like it is very old age and only ,25,35,45 year olds should run for the highest office.

Ludocracy.! Just now now we have constitutional crisis of Canada where very young president Justine Trudeau son of the famous Canadian president has fallen into disgrace and may lose his office

In the other hand we have ex Malaysian prime minister's mister Dr Mohammad Mahatir 94 and counting voted again tobl sort out Malaysia and run the country.

Or Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia running the country for 50 ..fifty years with no problems and everybody there still talks about this legendary politician unsurpassed in Yugoslavia. ...

But Wainainchi, don't be a fool! E.g., because of Tito's eternal rule, is Yugoslavia still there as a country/nation?

How about Qaddafi's Libya, not forgetting 94-year Mugabe and Zimbabwe?
